Storing Oxytocin: Best Practices
Condiciones de Almacenamiento de Laboratorio Recomendadas
Inyección (Pitocin): Temperatura ambiente controlada 20–25°C (68–77°F). Oxitocina general: se recomienda refrigeración a 2–8°C, especialmente en entornos con recursos limitados.
Estabilidad: Pérdida significativa de actividad después de 24 horas a temperatura corporal. Las infusiones no utilizadas deben descartarse prontamente.
Formas: Solución acuosa estéril para inyección IV/IM (10 Unidades USP/mL, viales de 1 mL o 10 mL); espray intranasal (dosis de 24/40 UI); en investigación: comprimidos sublinguales, aerosolizados, cápsulas orales con inhibidor de proteasas.
Conservantes: Clorobutanol 0,5%, tampón de ácido acético (pH 3,0–5,0).
Manipulación: Fármaco peligroso NIOSH 2016 Grupo 3 — doble guante de quimioterapia + bata protectora durante la preparación. Debe estar libre de contaminación por vasopresina.
